When Kara is not in the saddle, you can find her teaching Pilates at Pilates Rox.

A Southern California native, Kara grew up very involved in competitive cheerleading, swimming, and horseback riding. She discovered her love of Pilates in High School when she was recovering from a knee injury. She continued her Pilates training throughout her time at the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising and in the process she stumbled upon her true passion, health sciences. She continued her education by fulfilling her Pre-Med requirements. It was during this time that she was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease. Kara realized the importance of mind and body wellness and thus became a Pilates instructor.

Kara was trained under master Pilates instructor Risa Sheppard and was certified in The Sheppard Method Pilates in 2012. During her Pilates certification Kara began teaching Barre as a group fitness instructor at Pop Physique and Studio 64. She continued her barre education by training with Tracey Mallett and learning the “Booty Barre” technique. She has taken numerous post education workshops and is even certified as a Health and Nutrition coach. In her time teaching, she has been a guest-writer for Foam Magazine writing articles on nutrition and physical fitness.

She specializes in Pilates based exercises for athletes, rehabing back injuries, equestrians, pre/post natal, and nutrition.
